The Australian Capital Territory has released its revised Skilled Occupation List for the Skilled Visa program. The ACT Occupation List Identifies the skills that are in demand in Canberra. The list comes into effect on 1 September 2016.
The latest list has included eleven occupations that were not there in the previous list. The newly added occupations include Graphic Designer, Human Resource Advisor, Recruitment Consultant, Multimedia Designer, Web Designer, Mechanical Engineer etc.
Thirteen occupations that were there in the earlier version of the list but have been dropped in the review are Sales and Marketing Manager, Advertising Manager, Public Relations Manager, Engineering Manager, Cafe or Restaurant Manager (Excluding fast food), Financial Investment
Adviser, Financial Investment Manager, Policy Analyst, Management Consultant, Organisation and Methods Analyst, Solicitor, Enrolled Nurse and Mothercraft Nurse.
Eligible applicants can apply for the state nomination if their occupations are open on the Skilled Occupation List.
If you are living in Canberra and your occupation is ‘closed’ on the SOL, you may still be eligible to apply for state nomination if you are working in a Skilled occupation and meet the nomination criteria.
Overseas residents who have their occupation closed may be able to apply if they have close ties (family or a job offer) in Canberra and meet the nomination criteria.
